The other night, on a country lane, a passing motorist made mincemeat of my wing mirror so I've had to have a completely new unit. The garage has charged me for 1 hour 25 mins. labour. Is this feasible for this job?
Does the mirror have electric adjustment. If it does, the interior door panel may have to be removed. If not, it should only be half an hour. What type of car is it.
It depends on the make and model of the car, but, yes, that sounds about right. I have had the same experience, but I was given a fixed estimate for doing the job, and there was no mention of how long it would take. Incidentally, I was charged just over £200 for a complete new mirror and fitting.
I changed a mirror last year on a Subaru. Would have been a 10 minute job, except that the electric connector was down behind the door panel. Much swearing and damaged fingers later, it took nearly two hours, even after watching a YouTube instruction video.
