I have come to the conclusion that i hate it. Its worse in winter as you have to think of how cold it will be, how much stuff you will need.

I feel the same about packing as I do about writing, I'm with Dorothy Parker, who, when asked if she liked writing, said, "No, but I like having written'" I don't like packing, but I like having packed.

Packing?
Never done it.........I have a wife to do that.
Question Author
your wife has a lot to put up with i reckon..
I disagree emmie........I think that she is a very lucky woman.
I don't mind packing for a holiday. I write a long list of everything to take then just dump it in the suitcase. It's the unpacking I hate
I enjoy packing when it's the big suitcase which then gets thrown into the boot, it's when I'm flying and the small suitcase and a reduced load that annoys. When ever I have people staying with me I always ask, after a couple of days, if they need any thing washed, seems the polite thing to do.
Question Author
vulcan that's nice of you, sure brother won't mind...
I hate packing for holidays, I make a list but always seem to find other things I might need.
Question Author
me too, i have put out some of the clothes am going to need but it just looks too much already.
If your brother's house is cozy and warm, then no need to take lots of jumpers. My daughter's house is very warm when I go to stay with her for a week. I live in t shirts there!
Question Author
true, but still like a decent change of clothes, will have to pack it and see what i can leave out.
I hate it, too. I'm starting the list after Xmas (going 7/1). Since I'm going to Thailand I need to think of washing and sorting Summer clothes. It'll be freezing here, soo I have to wear really warm Winter clothing. Going off the whole idea. :(
mind I've got to fit in that case too Jourdain !!!
Oh Crikey! Bra, pants and sarong only, then. (That's all you can take, too!)
toothbrush..and Mr Minty's credit card..will buy what I need when we get there !!
I had forgotten the toothbrush! :(
I lay out what I would like to take, then cut in half. I don't mind packing, but hate unpacking.
Question Author
i hate both to be honest.
Zacs 20 mins how do you manage to take that long?
It takes me about 30 seconds.
For 1 week , put one pair each of socks, underpants , trousers ,shirt in a plastic carrier bag, double it up for 2 weeks.
Going abroad for a holiday is a new phenomena , it was necessary years ago when the pubs in the UK opened at midday closed at 2 pm opened again at 5pm and shut at 10.30. Now with pubs open from 9 am to 2am 7 days a week why is it necessary to go abroad . When I went to Spain back in the 1970s we got out of the taxi, went into the bar and stayed there a week. Some people didn't even bother going into their rooms. I can't understand why people spend 50 weeks a year saying how much they dislike black people and the other 2 weeks trying to look like one by sunbathing ;-)
I leave all my packing to the very last minute, ostensibly to minimise creasing but I must admit I just hate doing it
No, I hate it, I always want to take too much, and the OH moans about how much stuff I take, but I like to be prepared for varying weather conditions etc. And the dog looks miserable when I get the suitcase out.
