I think if Labour were in power they would negotiate to stay in. I think this simply because they have to be contrary to the opposition lol However I also think they would still do a crap job of it as the Conservative s have. Because they don't have any hard hitting negotiators either. I also think they would have capitulated to the EU a lot sooner than May has done....

The whole fiaso over the border with Ireland should have been sorted out in a morning (because there was only one realistic answer). It took May and Davis weeks because the DUP had to be placated, because May called a pointless and stupid election and lost its majority.
Even if it was trying its very hardest, I doubt Labour could have been as incompetent has the Tories have been.

Emmie,
The reason behind the Conservatives incompetence, inertia and shamblolic negotiating is due to the party being fairly evenly split between Leavers and remainers. May was trying to please everyone, and succeeded pleasing no one.
The split in Labour is less even. 90% of Labour MPs were/are remainers. Unfortunately the other 10% are the current leaders. So a similar paralysis may have occurred.

Brexit is likely to drag on for a few years because there are good financial returns for all who are involved with negotiations.
The UK could say to the EU, "We are leaving today without any withdrawal fee, unless you can put forward excellent reasons for us remaining a day further and what cost you put upon such a position which you require."
Why should we be begging from the EU when the whole world is our oyster and waiting for us to be free of all ties with Europe.
Hans.

they would sell us down the river, open the floodgates to legal and illegal migrants..calais point in question, anyone with spares room would be made to house migrants, hamas would have an embassy.
they would charter a cruise liner dock off libya and let all and sundry on for a new life in money tree britain, as for brexit corbyn would give them a blank cheque and say fill in what you think is fair.

There are no details re the border issue it's been fudged. NI won't be treated as an unimportant minor province that can be treated with disdain. Had to be fudged really because Eire kept demanding guarantees from the UK who was already trying for a soft border, instead of their bosses in the EU who were refusing to relax their border.
But true, it could have been sorted in a morning if the EU were reasonable, and Eire capable of understanding who they had to convince. Unfortunately it's been demonstrated neither will ever be likely.

For those of us who wanted our country back, has it really done us any good ? Brexit keeps rambling on & on. I am tired of hearing all this rubbish about paying the EU for us to leave, for goodness sake we owe them nothing. Please let us close the channel tunnel & just leave. Furthermore all of the MPs in Parliament who deliberately keep fudging the issue in order that the will of the people will be ignored, let us force them out of office. It is time for us to be heard loud & clear.
