So, the Labour Party is facing a full scale rebellion over its position on Israel’s siege and bombardment of Gaza, with more than 20 councillors who were elected under the Labour banner now resigning from the party and become independents. The councillors have resigned at various points over the last week, with Keir Starmer’s comments about Israel’s siege on Gaza on LBC being an initial trigger.

Asked by Nick Ferrari whether he thought that the siege on Gaza – including the cutting off of power and water – was appropriate, Starmer said that Israel “does have that right”. Fair comment.

I thought Keir had already chucked all the antisemites out of the Party- who are all these people?!   Clearly the party is still absolutely riddled, despite the right noises from Captain Hindsight.

They make the right noises at the top, but they are going to find it hard to root out the Corbynite antisemitic grassroots members.   I was actually impressed by David Lammy (there's a first!) when he said "Labour stands with the people of Israel", following attacks by Hamas and "Israel has a right to self-defence against terrorism".   This is clearly not going down well with the jew-haters in the party.

it is not antisemitic to oppose the bombardment of gaza.

I thought Starmer had dealt with the antisemite problem Labour has- clearly not.  If making a comment like that gets 20-odd councillors to resign he needs to keep making them!  Rats down a drainpipe.

"I thought Keir had already chucked all the antisemites out of the Party- who are all these people?!   Clearly the party is still absolutely riddled, despite the right noises from Captain Hindsight." - well he managed to get them to *** for a while but the terrorist supporters in Labour have found it all a bit much to keep schtumm at the moment.

the blockade and bombardment have caused a very high number of civilian casualties incuding children, elderly, disabled etc.; the blockade that kier starmer was talking about in fact has targeted civilians exclusively. that is wrong and it is not antisemitism to say so.

Keir would never be antisemitic.  He stated that Israel have a right to defend itself, and 20-odd councillors resign.  Says it all.

untitled: "the blockade that kier starmer was talking about in fact has targeted civilians exclusively. " - have a day off, they are not targetted they are collateral damage, all caused by your baby beheading buddies. Gawd you lefties have got no idea have you.

Question Author

If not Starmer, who will all the antisemites vote for at the next election?  Perhaps time for Jeremy (Hamas' friend) to return so the party faithful can unite (excuse the pun).

hamas knew about their attack before it happened and (unless they were very stupid indeed) stockpiled. ordinary civilians in gaza did not know about it and didn't. so the blockade of water and food targets only non-combatants. you might disagree but holding that opinion is not anti-semitism or anything like it!

Being opposed to the massacre of 5000 Palestinians makes them antisemitic ?

Starmer should be expressing disquiet not encouraging the barbarism.

Question Author

Perhaps they all resigned because Keir was right for once.

They have resigned and good riddance.

So hardly a "full scale rebellion"

You either rebel or you run. They have jumped before being pushed.

Any words or thoughts from Gulliver?
