I bought a car with my inheritance money the log book was in my name the name my x told Me I couldn’t have habe two log books in my name as I had another car so I put the log book in his name and got my self an old run around as I used to go to the farm a lot and didn’t want to spoil the new car. We got divorced and the final settlement was we both kept our own assets and walked away. He kept hold of the car so I didn’t fight for it as he needed transport to pick our daughter up from collage at weekends. She has now finished collage three yrs down the line so he no longer needs it I have asked for my car back or he can’t buy it off me and he will not part with the car or with cash please help

Did the divorce refer to the car? How was the car shown on your/his Form E?
Final settlement should answer you question Lisa.
And don't forget the log book doesn't indicate ownership. It merely indicates who is the current 'keeper' of the vehicle.
Have you still got the receipt or other proof of purchase?
and my two penny worth is:

the divorce was a final settlement and so the car would have been part of that

I dont think it matter HC - a divorce has got in the way

the ex made a false statement with intent to gain
(You cant have two cars when clearly you can) which is a s2 Fraud but I dont think that matters either.

she is well and truly jiggered by the final settlement and time gap

Yes I still have the receipt. I still have all the car documents and spare key.
Peter pendent I have every right to ask the question as I was conned by x and also there’s reasons I let him use the car as I knew it was safe and our daughter would be being transported in a safe car. So now he doesn’t need it I’m just looking for some advise thank you
The answer to the question posed by Barmaid at 16.14 could hold the answer Lisa.
No legal eagle; but as he kept the car when you split, doesn't that show you gifted it to him ?

(Unsure why you believed you couldn't own/keep two cars anyway.)

I'd agree that you need to reply to Barmaid's question.
