I have two nylon shopping bags which I keep in my handbag so I don't need to buy a plastic bag for any odd bits of shopping I need.
One of these comes in a pouch with a popper, which keeps it nicely stored away. The other, which is a bit more sturdy, folds in on itself and is secured with a Velcro tab. Even though it's made of thicker material and is a larger capacity, it folds up smaller than the other one, it's from the co-op. The other one was four times the price and from a garden centre.
Do you keep a bag like these in your handbag or pocket, if so, which is best and where did you get it?
I'm happy to know that string-bags are still around.
My mum had one that I remember, it was blue and white and brother, the amount of shopping that little bag could hold!!
I too have a variety of fold up shoppers, very handy.
The mention of string bags brings back memories of going to the greengrocer and he'd weigh everything then tip it in your bag - you walked home leaving a trail of earth from the spuds.
I've also got a tartan nylon one that folds up and the plastic base zips all round to make a wallet I keep in my handbag. Thought it was uber naff when I bought it - in a tourist shop on holiday in Menorca - but it's been so useful.
Yes, I got mine from M&S. It cost about £1.20. I always keep in my handbag. It folds down to little pouch. Ideal, and it is coated with some sort of antibacterial substance.
I just had to BUY a plastic bag, nearly killed me to hand over the money! Not for food shopping but for shoes, undies, couple of Christmas presents, that sort of shopping.
Must buy another fold away one, thanks for all the ideas.
Oh that annoys me in M&S! I don't want to buy a bag, and I don't want to shove my new bra and knickers in my handbag as they are likely to get half chewed toffees stuck to them nor do I want to parade my new purchases through the car park.
