never had a kebab ! just looking at those turning lumps of whatever makes me heave !
MM, so long as you don't see the back end of a rat going around on the spit, you'll be quite safe.
Its not lamb, it's an elephants foot :-)
Still away Alba, home in the morning.

Hope you feel better soon.
melv, but it's still tasty !!
Love a good kebab, especially love an adana or a halep, but only ever really found them in London.
For any “Halal dodgers” most are halal meat, delicious as a blue moon cheat meal.

To those saying pick the ones with the longest queues, the ones nearest to the pubs on fri/sat nights have the longest queues for some unknown reason, lol
You are talking about doner kebabs, JJ. Those strips of lamby, spicy fat which are foul. You can have a chicken tikka kebab or a lamb kebab which are chunks of proper meat on a skewer.

Doner kebabs are horrible. The other type are delicious.
As I said, make your own doner meat and it can be delicious.
I'm referring to the shop bought ones. Making your own is totally different. :-)
It is a matter of taste, although I usually order shish I've had many a doner, along with millions of others, and they are undeniably nice.
I disagree, doner kebabs are delicious, especially with some chilli sauce, and avoiding any salad that'd spoil it. Full of fat & calories though, so hardly ever have one. Last one would have been about 3 years ago at a guess.

There are a lot of different kebab types though.

Offal, cheap meat, spices all minced and grilled on rottiserie. Salad, chilly & booze disguise smell & taste :(
Not brave enough to have a doner but the I do recall ordering a shish many moons ago and being rather bemused watching it be assembled, wrapped and then bunged in the microwave. Microwaved lettuce is not the best as I now know to my cost. :-(

Best ever was from a hole in the wall in Berlin.
Ughh no, never fancied one of these !
I shall be having a Chicken Shashlik when we go out tonight. That's my type of kebab.
Food poisoning on a stick. I don't like doner kebabs.

I like a nice shish from our nearest decent kebab shop. They're made with proper lamb and they even ask you how you'd like it cooked. Chunks of lamb, peppers, onions and mushrooms and then loaded with salad.
I used to have a kebab every Friday night on the way back home from a night out in London mmmmm

I do wonder - when there lots left of the lamb on the pole at end of evening - how do they keep it "fresh". Would sincerely hope they don't keep it on the pole - that's the thing that would put me off.

There are so many varieties tho.
