Have We Got A Dysfunctional Government?
- Today the Government postponed a debate on Brexit until November for fear of losing the vote.
- Also today, the Government enmasse abstained in a vote on Universal Credit for fear of an embarrasing defeat by its own MPs.
- The Government are heading for a 'No Deal' on its negotiation on leaving the EU.
- The Governing Party are deeply divided, with Ministers publicly fighting with colleagues on a daily basis.
- The Prime Minister seemingly has no authority, regulatly being undermined by her own Foreign Secretary.
How have we got into such a mess to have this useless bunch of failures governing us ?

If the Government thought that they could win the debate, then they would have voted against the Opposition Day Motion. The only plausible reason for the Government to fail to vote, is that they knew that they would fail to win the motion.

Danny...well, at least we agree on that point, although I am not sure Wollaston would appreciate being called treacherous.
So what you are saying is that, apart from a minor U-turn over the cost of using the UC Helpline, she will still blunder on with a policy that even her own Party can't support ?
Doesn't sound as if she is in control of anything, least of all her own Party.

Sure, Labour is divided on Brexit as well -- but right now, the Tories are in government, and their divisions are the ones that matter the most because of that. It's not ignoring the issues Labour has to say so.
It's in the interests of the country as a whole that the Tories work out what they actually want from the ongoing negotiations.

As I have said many times a good Government is made by a strong and acceptable opposition as well as a reasonable majority.
At present we have neither, so if you are a Labour supporter I would not shout too much because Jezza should be ripping TM to shreds. And he cant because his policies are even worse so he is not a viable alternative.
What a complet mess we are in thanks to TM and JC.
