Well went to see my surgeon yesterday regarding my hernia, he was very surprised at my weightloss and is happy to proceed with the surgery although he now wants to do this as a day case in the local hospital as opposed to the big city hospital! I have to go back in 3 months for a final weigh in.
With a day case he said that he would not be able to put a mesh over the hole but instead just stitch it up? Is this not risky? Also I am assuming that I will still be knocked out for this and not just numbed?

Sorry Sqad crossed posts.
Well Sqad...after my last GA I had breathing problems, apparently. Obviously I was under so didn't know but they still let me out the same day.

ummmm...the breathing problems that i had in mind was not during anaesthesia, but after......on recovery....back in the ward.

Islay...there you go.....best of luck.......
3 months time, a lot can happen for surgeon to be happy to release you on same day,

(sorry, Islay, came late to this thread) you will be fine!!
When the time comes for the op, I'll be there in cyber space holding yer hand xxx
I had a GA when having an anal polyp removed. I sat in the ward for hours before it was my turn to have the op. I must have been the last on the list because I didn't have my op until after 3pm. I was still sent home by tea time which was alright by me.
Islay see what the anaesthetist says....
on the day

hospital stays are MUCH shorter than when Sqad was wielding a knife.
