Not to a company. I did phone my brother and spoke to his wife a few years ago. During the conversation I heard my brother say he was going out to the pub. His wife and I chatted for a bit then I heard my brother arrive home from the pub. He had been in the pub for over four hours!

Not to say that I chat too much.
No, I wouldn't wait that long.

On a similar theme, last night when trying to fill out my tax return online, I had a problem getting past the ID check when logging in so I used the HMRC help chat line. After a very tortuous 50 minutes the final response (having failed to deal with my problem) was "Ring our help line in the morning". So in a sort of way that does eclipse your experience.
To clarify the above, the chat line was an interactive online feature, not a telephone.
Yes I held for 50 minutes when I used to be with Orange. In that time I did a whole wash, put it on the washing line and wrote my work roster in 2 diaries. I wrote and told Orange what I had done and asked them if that was a record. I got a jokey email back from them saying that they were very happy that I had used the time so productively.
Not quite what you meant but one evening, sharing a flat with a mate, the phone rang and she answered it. I could hear her chatting away in the distance and then 55 minutes later she hands the phone to me saying, "It's for you". And it was.
