Any 'similar' confusions....?

All through growing up my mum used to say "when i was a lad....' and we all knew she was joking,so i used to say it to my children too, until one day my son asked "was you really a lad once mum....." It had never really occurred to me in this day and age that you can't really say such stuff anymore can you?!!!!!!!


Anyone had similar experiences....?

my dad used to use this expression but his was longer.. "when i was a lad as big as my dad" and i always used to think he was actually really tall as a kid!

Hi sophie, i think my mum's was to do wiv the Hovis ad....eg when i was a lad i used to go down town, see a film at cinema, ave a bag o crisps n a coke, pick up a Mcd's and still ave change from a 50 pound note.....!!!
