Still on holiday in Germany. Went to a cafe in a lovely town called Boppard. Just sat down outside, picked up the menu, waitress came over and asked if we wanted the English menu? I asked her do we look English, she said yes!!!
What gave us away, we hadn't spoken so couldn't be that.

Does it never stop raining in Germany? Lovely on Sunday, rained ever since.
It's getting beyond a joke. Last holiday was the same. In South Wales rained from day we got there, came home two days early then.
Can't really do that here, with tunnel and hotel booked. Just have to put up with it.
It's funny because I usually get a few raised eyebrows when I tell foreigners I'm English.
can't be the shaved armpits as you had anoraks on .maybe because you were smiling and looked happy x lol
or didn't throw a towel over the chairs x
Did you stop and look at the menu, walk on, turn round, read the menu again, dither, repeat at least once before finally sitting down?

This is a very British trait.
Caran, I was on a Rhine cruise in May and it didn't rain once. Maybe it's just you. Do you have your own personal raincloud?
When i'm in Spain they always think I'm either English or French before I've said a word, never Spanish though.
It must have been when you queued up and started talking about the weather Caran. (^_*)
I find my Union Jack shorts and 'Speak English Or Die!' tee-shirt usually help me avoid the tiresome nonsense of being spoken to in a foreign language!
