...worst casting....Just watched one of my favourite films ( for the music only) but having Laurence Olivier playing a Cantor as Neil Diamond's father in 'The Jazz Singer' must be truly a travesty of casting, right there with John Wayne as Ghenkis Khan.

Any more bad castings can you think of.

Yup. Sylvester Stallone. Should of been cast into the wilderness let alone allowed near Hollywood.
He can't speak intelligible dialogue let alone act. :-)
James Caan has Sonny Corleone in the Godfather.
Ava Gardner as George Sand in the biopic of Frederic Chopin

Ava Gardner as the contessa in 55 days in Peking
she falls in lurrrve with a Mandarin - erm hold on dont Mandarins lack a certain part of their anatomy ?

I think you may be confusing mandarins with eunuchs.
Are you suggesting that they are minus pips, PP.
I think that Petah is thinking of the unicorns that are in charge of harems.
Jack - to be a mandarin in the service of Tzu Hsi or anyone to be honest in the then Celestial civil service
you had to under go castration

Really, I didn't know that. Anyway "55 Days...." was an excellent movie. Loved it when they all played their National Anthems at the same time.
and Ava looked gorgeous throughout
in real life the contessa was a lady doctor who was not allowed to treat the men even tho by that time there had been lady doctors ( erm treating men ) for fifty years

stoo we call senior civil servants in London Mandarins
