My daughter text me this morning from hospital where she was awaiting small op to remove a cyst on her ovary. The Surgeon came to see her and drew a circle on her forehead! She asked him what on earth he was doing and that it wasn't her head that was needing surgery it was her stomach! He looked at his notes and realised he had the wrong young woman.... Confident in the NHS??...

This is why people have wristbands and quite honestly I dont see why the staff dont use them.

In 1976 I asked : " Mr Smith when I asked you if you were mr Brown, why did you say yes ? "
and he said: " I said yes as in " yes do you want to have a word with me? "

I was very wristbandy after that for forty five years .....
Didnt matter who they said they were - up to and including the Queen of Sheba

My daughter is home now. Had bad reaction to anaesthetic, fainted and sick. I honestly thought she would stay in the night. I've been sitting with her tonight and is recovering slowly
The painkillers are helping. She said surgeon was foreign and couldn't understand him properly. When she told him it was her abdomen that was to be operated on, he insisted it was her head!.... Anyway, thank goodness it was sorted.
That's a terrible experience, Patsy. Hope she recovers soon.

He insisted it was her head!!!!!!! God help us all who require hospital admission.
That is scary, Patsy....she must be safer at home with you.....wishing her a speedy recovery and hope she's feeling better today....Gx
Doesn't one reach the ovaries via the forehead, then ?
Sorry to read she isn't feeling well. Take it easy and hope she is feeling fitter soon.
My wife had an infection in her ear after having german measles as a child .... when she returned from theatre after surgery, she had a swathe of bandage on the left side of her head. Her father asked why the bandage was on the left, when the infection was on the right side ... It seems they had operated on the wrong ear.
