What would you like to banter about?
Hi devadolly.
1221 came and went.
1222 started out well and am still making progress.
Hoping for some heavenly inspiration to finish it by Wednesday.
Some of the jumbled words I have, seem to be connected except for one.
Will keep on trucking.
Hankir

Afraid I've not done many EVs these days. This one would have been the same had I not test-solved it eighteen months ago. Found it tricky, to say the least! Dysart writes fiendish clues. But it's a fine puzzle with a fun implementation of the theme.

N&C wise... Up earlier than hoped today, long week ahead, and then off to Barcelona for a week this Sunday.

Hello All. Anything you like BB. Yes, I have noticed a connection with the few I have managed, not flowing as yet, but have hope....not by Wednesday I don't think. Clever clogsis Jim 360!
Enjoying this ... not quite finished yet .... but themed acrosses found and hence main theme. Onwards......
Stuck in northeast.
5a or 7a hint please.
Solved it. Now for the end game.
Question Author
As you say Hankir, now for the end-game, have the theme but am a bit confused as to which clue...hints please.
Should be one of the last two across clues. Hint: generic word describing the art form the source material is an example of, and this features in one or other of the clues.
I am assuming that the answer has to be highlighted as is.
It does not need to be rewritten because then two down answers will be non-words.

Oh dear! I must be VERY wrong in my assumptions.. Haven't managed penultimate yet but last one doesn't make sense.
48ac is just a word mean "ascetic" (hermit), formed from "sorry" + "shack" with last letter removed, so having looked at the puzzle again it was the last-but-one clue that is special.
Question Author
I have 48a it's the other one (of two) I don't have. Can't chat, AB playing up and cuts me off! This is 4th attempt.
For example,
What would Tesco call its own soup or other products bearing Tesco name?
Question Author
Bow my head with stupidity...hit with a thump in early hours! Many thanks.
Glad you got it, dd.
The clues were tough.
A handful of words were new to me.
But it was fun.
