UPVC - can it be painted ?

Has anyone ever painted their UPVC window frames ?


Is it possible, does it look ok ?

I did. Mine were white and I painted them brown. My husband thought I was mad to try.


I cleaned them thoroughly and applied a coat of ESP (easy surface prep). Then 2 coats of gloss paint.


That was 3 years ago and they still look fantastic - no chips or fading.


I recommend it.


if they are still under the warrantee,painting them will invalidate it.

You can purchase paint specifically for uPVC - the manufacturer with the fluffy dog sell it !


I have used it to paint a uPVC decorative cornice which had become stained by a Virginia creeper and it worked just fine. After 6 years it still looks as good as new.


I feel fairly certain that there are other colours in the range too.
