This thread has just made me realise we've had no fireworks around here this year. Lovely peace. They look nice but I can't stand the noise.

Wish I lived where you are Cloverjo. They were still going off at 1.30am here on bonfire night then Friday afternoon they're off again until late at night.I don't mind the nice coloured ones but I hate the loud bangs, they make me jump.

Where I live it has been particularly quiet this year which has been a shock as it's usually extremely noisy for several days. Don't know what tonight will bring, but will be glad when it's all over. Hate the noisy ones with a vengance.

Why have Christmas goods been in the shops since August and why are we being bombarded with Christmas adverts now? Do people have problems reading a calendar? We have fireworks for a very small percentage of the year and people complain bitterly. We have the commercial greed of Christmas for approaching five months of the year and nobody bats an eyelid. I know which I'd rather have.
