My good friend is trying to save the planet by going "green" and has a standard lamp
that she uses to read with, she has a 1 watt large edison screw fluoresent lamp in it but says this is still too bright and wants to know if there is another e/s fluoesent lamp she can put in it that won't be so bright, any ideas please?

replied in chatterbank but to add to that you sure you dont mean 100 watt
I have never heard of a bulb less than 1 watt, are you sure it is 1 watt?
Yiu can get 4W LED lamps - equivalent to a 40W tungsten bulb. A big selection from Clas Ohlson.
Sorry, equivalent to 25W tungsten.
^^ do not think they have a large screw base though.
You can get converters for edison screw - small to large, large to small, to bayonet etc.
