Can anyone recommend a hotel in or around Oxford city centre? Even though I live in Oxfordshire I've never actually stayed in a hotel here. Looking to spend not much over £80 and I don't want anything like Prem Inn or Travelodge. Something half decent, if that's possible with that budget.

yes a super hotel in the Kings Arms at Woodstock (6 miles west side approx) - really nice rooms and bathrooms like a country Hyatt and ver good food....reasonably priced and last time I stayed it was 75 a might
a night - sorry
not really in the city centre tho!
I did say that it was about 6 miles away - Good grief....... worth a mention though and let millie143 decide - 6 miles is not exactly 60 miles.........
ps if you do go for a city centre hotel, don't forget to add on parking!
whioch could equate to a glass or two of a nice wine........

A few miles out isn't so bad. We would drive over there but will be going out for a meal and probably a few drinks so getting a taxi back 6 miles wouldn't be too bad. Will see if I can find a site for the hotel you suggest DT.

WOW! Looks amazing! Unfortunately double occupancy £140 - eek.
good breakfast too and Woodstock, as you probably know, is a nice village re its history and shops/galleries/antiques
ohhhh, where are you going for dinner? I used to live in oxford and miss returants there!
what about the four pillars on the abingdon rd? Not sure how much it is tho and cant remember the name of it. however, you can walk to town from there
give them a call and see if they have any special deals - I have found that direct contact is much better than these 'best deals' sites
I stayed in Oxford a couple of weeks back - the city centre hotels are expensive and the parking in Oxford is scarce and also expensive. They encourage people to park and ride if possible. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express at the Kassam Stadium (£68 per night inc breakfast). It was a comfortable, basic room and the hotel is near a bus route where buses run every 10 minutes into the city so I never needed my car.

I don't really know bednobs - very unorganised as you can tell. It's a bit of a make up evening so if you could recommend somewhere I would love to hear. Again, nothing too expensive - it's nearly Christmas ;o)
i like browns.
for the cheaper end of town try cowley road (some great indians)
there is a nice looking resturant called gees but ive never been in there so can't recommend it
do they have a hotel or rooms now? - used to be a (goodish) cafe/bistro.........
Question Author
I was thinking of Browns. Really liked it last time I went although that was years ago. He knows the Cowley Rd really well so could see if he can think of anywhere there.
browns? I don't think so
that was to dt by the way :)
the only problem with browns is that you can't book (or you didnt used to be able to) and at around this time of year i guess they'll be busy with xmas parties
