I am an 18 year old male, and am currently in my first year at university. I'm trying to decode on something to do for perhaps a month or so during the summer (july-september). It would have to be something amazing and where there will be other young people, but nothing too adventurous or anything.... does anyone have any suggestions, past experiences, etc? Thanks

If you want sun, scenery and a high preponderance of lithe lovelys, try walking one of the Grands Randonnees. (french national footpaths) There is one that runs right through the alps, is always packed with swedish backpackers, and is great fun. You can book into the shelters in advance to ensure a cot, and you are never too far from civilisation even if what you are walking through looks lik the set of grizzly adams.
When I was at college and uni a few years ago, many of my friends went off to do 'Camp America'. This involves helping out at summer camps for American kids, but often you get a holiday at the end of it too. Gives you lots of chances to meet new people and my friends who've done it have had a fab time. Not sure if you can only do it for a month though? I don't have any contact details but I'm sure Google may be able to point you in the right direction.
http://www.campamerica.co.uk quite hard to get into mind, a lot of competition!
