Does anyone know where I can get travel insurance (to the USA) at a 'fair' rate?
Person has not suffered for 22 years, and this was as a result of poor Hopsital Care, kept in bed 6 weeks no thought for DVT's!
all the companies looked at seem to want to load the rate by 100%!

Unfortunately with a pre-existing condition you have to pay more to be covered - I know, I have to pay around 200 annual for worldwide. However, you should be able to choose to exclude DVT and get cheaper cover that way but of course you will then only be covered for anything other than DVT. (If I exclude my condition I can get it for approx 55 annual)

If you really believe there is no more risk then exclude it. If however you don't feel you can exclude it, the insurance company are forced to load the policy as DVT is already a risk when flying and you know of a past history.

If you travel abroad a few times in a year as I do - usually 4 or 5 times - 200 isn't such an enormous amount to pay for the security of knowing you are covered.

Thanks for the answer, this will be a one off trip, so may well pay the extra for the cover, anyone suggest good companies, as opposed to those that take your money, then try to wriggle out of everything!
Hi! Try the following company. It is a small but reputable company in North London which I have used for the past 5 years. Fortunately I have not had to claim so can not vouch for that but their rates are very reasonable. Travel Insurance Agency: Suite 2, Percy Mews, 755B High Road, North Finchley, London N12 8JY Telephone:020 8446 5414

Good Luck
