My lovely dad would have been eighty today,he died quite suddenly last year just after his birthday. A friend of mine who runs a local history website has put on a little tribute to him, which we compiled together.I've just been to have a look,i've been putting it off all day, it's lovely.

So sorry for your loss Polly. My Dad has just turned 84 and is starting to look his age now, bless him and I dread the day. Could you tell us where the tribute is or do you want to keep it private xx
It's hard Polly. I would like to say it gets easier...but it doesn't :-(
Very true Ummm, I think you just learn to get by as best as possible. Good days, bad days.

Hugs Polly xxxx
polly, my thoughts are with you.

i lost my father (73) to prostate cancer, christmas eve 2005.
we knew it was coming - but it still hurt.
Oh Polly how poignant but also how wonderful to have that tribute to him, must gladden your heart even though it is heavy with sadness. ((HUG))

My sister and family came over on a visit that had been planned since early in the year, they arrived on the Saturday evening and Dad died the next day,it was as if he had been waiting for them.

there is a small chapel on the bridge in my town.

every year shortly before christmas, it is opened at weekends.
members of the public can go in - make a small donation to charity - and light a candle for lost loved ones.

i always go in for my father

I haven't had that yet,but mum has,she says she often dreams of him.I should have been with her today, but as I don't drive I went for a bus at lunch time and missed it.Not a good day!
Thanks for sharing Polly. Love his beautiful, colourful garden. I am very sorry you've lost him.
Question Author
Thanks chaptaz, yes he loved his garden. He did a different colour scheme every year. The formal design's not eveyones cup of tea,but it's the way he was taught working at the big house I suppose.
