what is this symbol

my phone has started showing a symbol which looks like this /\/ it only happens when a call is being made but when the person answers either they cant hear me or i cant hear them the phone is a nokia 6700

Is your phone linked to a Blue Tooth hands free thingy in your car?
This happened to me when I answered the mobile at home- it turned out the sound came out in my car.

hi chris tapping function was on,switched it off which was that symbol as it now has a line through it but when we rang another phone i couldnt hear it ringing on my phone or the answer phone.rang again the symbol came back up as before when i talk the other person can hear me but i cant hear them?

Hi Deb, a similar thing happened to me as with Factor, had me confused for ages.

Have you had it 'paired' with any other blue tooth devices recently?

had a look but its not that symbol,have got the booklet and looked through it but cant find anything that looks like it!!
