The picture on the TV has frozen. The sound can be heard from the current programme, but it is still showing the picture from the last programme! The channels won't turnover. Even when switched off then on again the same frozen picture appears. The TV is about 5 years old. Any ideas on the fault appreciated.

Forgot to say that all the other TVs in the house are OK so dont think it is a reception issue. There is no skybox, just a standard sony ifreeview ntergrated tv
I presume this is LCD. No solution to the particular problem but have you tried actually unplugging the unit and leaving it for a minute or so. Then 'restart'.
Check to see if there is a freeze button on the remote. Some modern tvs have ths feature along with picure in picture. Might be worth checking and making sure the button isn't stuck down.
couple of good ideas there check them first

I think what happens is that the video and audio goes through small buffers and are then sent to the screen in a stream - ach new frame forces the last one out of memory

because aud and vid are seperate if either feed goes missing - the memory hangs on to the last bit of information

if you unplug and leave - when you switch on again the picture will have gone leaving just audio

occasionaly my telly does this - by switching off and on then opening the sky prog guide the pic comes back

it only happens with the digital feed - the analog option never does it
