errrm your question doesn't really make a lot of sense!

in what context are you talking about
It depends upon what you mean by 'in terms of the internet'.

If you're referring to the amount of free webspace offered to customers by an ISP, it's massive. (You could host several major commercial websites with that amount of space).

However, if you're referring to the monthly download limit which some ISP's offer, 500Mb is 'next to nothing'. (If you need to calculate your likely monthly download usage, use this calculator:

If you want to know how long a 500Mb download would take, it depends upon your connection. On a dial-up connection, it would take around 30 hours. With a 2Mbps broadband connection it might take around 45 minutes.

Are you talking about download limits ?

A digital photograph can be 1Mb or 2Mb so you could download 250 or more

An MP3 song can be 4Mb or 5Mb (or more) so you could download around 100.

But a single video clip could be 50Mb, or 100Mb or even 500Mb. So if a video clip was 500Mb you could only download 1.

But if you are just talking about e-mails and general surfing the net then 500Mb is quite a lot (as long as you dont download a lot of large files like video)
not much at all

yes it is my free monthly limit on my new mobile phone, so say i went on ask.co.uk or cinema listings, things like that, is that likely to go very quickly?
thanks
Question Author
say i will prob only use it to say check my email twice a day, maybe surf onto a website such as ask.co.uk quickly, thats the sort of thing, not to download anything to my phone...........
if it's a 3G phone you'll be surprised how quickly you can go over that.

There should be a way of checking your current usage on the phone providers website so you can keep track of your usage. be really careful not to go over the limit as it will get very expensive very quickly if you do!

yeah thanks, i can check it by dialling a number but i cant do that untill ive had my first bill in 4 weeks so will just not use it till then. i just like the email feature!
