And I have got a wireless router, which is a Sky Sagem box.

My question is, I have been told not to leave the router on for too long if it is not being used, so I can just turn of the router part of the box? or do I have wait until I switch off completely for the night?

Who told you that? My router is on 24/7 as my phone is connected to it.
My router is on 24/7 too, but I'm more concerned with your "finally" stuck in your sentence, I called Sky yesterday to switch to them, should I expect problems??
I always say leave the router on all the time, especially for the first 10-14 days as during this period the router and the phone exchange are undergoing "training" to sort out whats the best line speed you can get, constantly turning the router off during this period extends the training time

Once you have the router installed and all setup just tuck it away somewhere, leave it on and forget it even exists.

Lakitu,

It was a joke, even right up to the connection.

I made the switch, at the beginning of May, waited and waited. I then gone a phone call from Sky saying my broadband was now active. I had to call them and explain that I did not have a router and that was another palaver and another week of waiting.

The connection disc would not play and I had to phone them and they took me through it another way.

So I am on!!
I only hope I don't live to regret it.
Ohhhhhh gawwwwwwd!!!!

I went through such a palavar with BT last year, it took me 2 months to get connected!!

I'm just going to go and sit in a corner and cry now.
