I took my digital camera out with me on saturday night and somehow managed to delete the whole memory on my SD card which is all the photos I have from when my daughter was born.Is there anyway I can get them back? is there anywhere I can take it so my photos can be recovered?

Most software will work on removeable storage.

It is even more important that you don't use the card to store more photos - otherwise those currently hidden to Windows will be overwritten and lost forever.
DO NOT USE THE CARD UNTIL YOU NEED IT AS BELOW

Download "Restoration" ( www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.html ) and install it. Insert your card into a card reader (should work if connected "in camera", but never tried) and use Restoration to search the card for deleted files, saving to somewhere other than your card. I've recovered virtually every picture on a card this way, your mileage will vary.

Once done, make sure you back up the pictures to (preferably) a hard disk or CD/DVD. I wouldn't recommend keeping pictures on a card that you use in a camera, if you want to carry them around with you invest in another display device.
I agree with LeMarchand, it is VERY risky to leave important pictures JUST on a memory card.

You could lose the camera and card, or lose just the card, or acidently delete pictures as you seem to have done.

After any important event (holiday, family gathering etc) I always download ALL my pictures to computer and THEN PUT THEM ON CD or DVD (2 copies just in case).

Only after backing up my pictures onto CD or DVD do I delete them from the camera.

In fact it is VERY risky to keep your pictures JUST on your computer (not backed up to CD or DVD) as a computer can crash, or be stolen.
