television sound

I have a Philips Ambilight 32" LCD television and I find the sound on it very hollow and you have to have it on really loud to hear anything clearly. Obviously, this is not really practical living in a semi-detached house .

The television is situated in the corner by the window on a glass stand with wheels. My room is open plan with stairs in it and I have laminate on the floor.

I have read the instructions for the television and it does say that I could add a sub-woofer to the system. Does anything think this would improve the quality of the sound. I have tried all the setups suggested but to no avail. My other television which was situated in exactly the same position on the laminate floor was no problem, although this was the old fashioned style flat screen television made by Sony.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi riptide,
i think you could vastly improve the volume & sound
quality of your tv, if you got yourself a pair of reasonable
quality hi speakers, either side of your tv, believe me
you would see a vast inprovement in the sound quality,
you could mount them on floor stands, or wall brackets.
do you have a Richer Sounds hi-fi retailer near you,
they would fix you up with speakers & stands, they
will also answer any of you querys, i am sure you would
get fixed up for very little expense, they have some real
bargains with speakers.if you decide to take this option
i am sure you will be pleased with the results.
