I am trying to view a specific folder (IE5) in my Temporary Internet Files folder, yet I can see no folders and there should be like 20 of them. I have disabled read only, disabled hidden, everything...i even tried searching for the folder but it comes up as not found. Anyone any ideas? Its important that i find this file in this folder and delete it. Thanks!

SORRY! LET ME RE-ASK THIS QUESTION.....

I know where a file should be...yet when i go through my hard drive and my local settings...once i go into tempoary internet files folder there should be a folder called IE5. It isn't there, yet i know for a fact that it is there. What would happen if i deleted the folder Temporary Internet Files and just created a new folder with the same name?

I don't know why you would expect to find the folder IE5 in the tempory internet files folder. Did you download this from the internet? Most home computers are set to "Empty Temporary Internet Files Folder when the browser is closed (Options\Internet Options\Advanced\Security) so I would expect to find the Temporary Internet Files folder to be empty most of the time.
There are some folders that disabling the "hidden" attribute doesn't work on in Windows Explorer. You might have to boot into DOS mode to find them.

Temporary Internet Folder holds lots of information including cookies, favourites (as well as being in the favourites folder) and a lot of other folders. When i run my anti virus checker i can access the folders in IE5 but can't see what files are in the folders. Even when i clear my temp files the cookies remain, but all i can see in temporary internet folder are cookies and no IE5 folder
Maybe you are looking in the wrong place. There is a folder called Temporary Internet Files in the Windows directory, but if you are using any of the systems that need a log in they are not in that one. Try looking for 'C:/Documents and Settings/ (then your login name) /Local Settings/Temporary Internet Files/Content.IE5. The login is either the name you login with or if you are set for no login it could be 'Default User'.

that is exactly where i was looking. i know enough about computers to know where to look, and i have looked everywhere. im not stupid enough to be looking in the wrong place.
I assume you are using XP (or 2000). If you log on to your PC as another user with administrative privelages you will be able to see *your* IE5 folder under *your* profile (ie the profile you usually log on as). For some reason you are unable to view this folder in the profile you are logged on to. If you delete this folder, it will be recreated the next time you log on. PS Don't be unkind to smorodina: it is a very common mistake to make, even by "clever" people.
That's all right j2buttonsw, I'm getting used to it now. It's just that we sometimes overlook the simplest answers. Only trying to help.
Don't jump down my throat if you have tried this, but just in case you haven't and you still have the problem, it occured to me that if you right click on the explorer symbol on the desk top and click properties, then Temporary Internet files 'Settings' button on the Genreal tab - then the 'View Files' button - you should see a window with all the files including cookies, and you should be able to delete them there. This method works for me.
