My Norton subscription is about to run out. I am considering AVG, is it any good, will it conflict with Norton if so is Norton easy to get rid of, thankyou in advance
AVG is the preferred choice of the majority of the 'regulars' on AB's Technology section. Independent tests regularly give it a 100% rating for identifying and dealing with viruses. It also automatically updates itself daily, so it should always be up to date: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5
my norton virus ran out and i bought a mcafee it would not work on my laptop that had norton on when i bought it new.I checked this out and was told that if it was installed with norton then carry on with norton the disc worked on another pc but not his one
Does that free version of avg have a real time scanner? What i mean is does it scan everything you download as you are downloading it or do you have to run a scan on a downloaded file yourself? also have avast home edition and it scans everything as it is being downloaded without me initializing a scan. no I do not have both running at the same time.
Yes, AVG Free Edition incorporates real time scanning. (If you check that link above, you'll see the product description includes "Realtime protection of files and e-mails"). For example, whenever I download e-mails, a message box appears to show that they're being scanned before being transferred to my e-mail client.
AVG is way better than norton and doesnt make your computer run ads slow as norton either
i used to work for a multi national co who used a free version of avg for the entire 3 yr period i worked there
