I went to my Inbox and all the mail had gone.The rest. of my folders are ok. My hard drive has started to make noises. sometimes the computer switches off and then commences scan disk(surface scan).The results of which are ok.What's happened to my saved inbox and my hard drive ?

Your hard drive is about to fail. Back up all that you can ASAP and get a new drive!
