I put my new mouse in the sp2 socket no probs then installed the disc .Guss what the mouse seized and has not worked in that socket since even after deinstallation of the disc.Any ideas by the way this is alapt op

Usually I wouldn't bother with loading on drivers for a mouse unless you have a brand new fancy one with loads of buttons. Have you tried a different mouse to see if that works? There may also be an option in your laptop bios to enable or disable external mice.
