mouse probs bizarre- help!

my pc is displaying bizarre behaviour, my mouse is not doing anything i have to use my keyboard enter key, i cleaned the mouse but to no avail, i tried another mouse but that one doesn't even register (it used to before).I am NOT getting any error messages or noises and
there is simply nothing when i click on favourites- they do not appear at all -there is no list, also very difficult to get rid of right click function.Strangely , now with the original mouse in it wont let me in to guest user account, the only time the mouse works correctly is when i click to enter my password after that it does nothing despite several reboots, it has been extremly difficult to get this question in
