Hello, I've just purchase an old DVD recorder, I've bought it to record some local TV programmes that are on my Sky+ box before I get a Sky Q box. The DVD recorder has no instructions, does anyone know an easy set up to record (lead connections)? My TV has got no Scart socket, but both the DVD recorder and Sky+ box both have Scart sockets (1 in 1 out on both) (the model is Acoustic solutions dvdrw300), I only need to use it once and they I will give the recorder to charity - thanks in advance for any help.

the output from the old sky box needs to go into the dvd recorder, then the output from that should go into the tv. Then set the DVD to record and play the program concerned. You can probably find the manual for the DVD recorder on line.

Thanks for the answer, any idea of the lead connection I would need to get for the output from the DVD recorder to the TV, as I said its got no Scart socket but it has AVI in, YPbPr in and HDMI only - thanks again

Think I've found the lead on Amazon a Scart to HDMI converter.
you'll need whatever the output is for the DVD record, if it's old it probably has a standard coax if so that should also fit your TV. You don't really need the actual TV other than as a monitor to watch what you are recoding. What is the make and model of the DVD recorder?
Surely all you need is a Scart lead (Scart to Scart) connecting the Sky box Scart out to the DVD recorder Scart in. Then when playing the TV programmes you want to record (displayed on your TV), record them on the DVD recorder.

Of course you won’t be able view the DVD recorder playing the recorded disc on your TV screen – but any PC/laptop with a DVD player should confirm that the programme has been successfully recorded.

Thanks once again for your answers, I've ordered a Scart to HDMI lead & a standard Scart lead so one of those should hopefully work with the help of your suggestions.
With the Scart to HDMI lead you should be able to view what the DVD recorder is recording.

Using the Scart lead, connect the Sky Scart out to the DVD recorder Scart in – then using the Scart to HDMI lead, connect this from the DVD recorder Scart out to one of your TV’s HDMI in.

Thanks very much for your answer, all the leads are ordered - can't believe I didn't keep a scart lead, just never thought I would ever use one again, the recorder should be here next week - will let you all know how I get on :)
