One of the worries is that it will soon be impossible to know what's real and what isn't, at least when you're looking at a screen. E.g you could have a zoom meeting with someone and not be able to tell if you're interacting with some kind of deep fake visual/ chatbot combination. He refers to an overall, near zero, danger; not specific incidents of things going wrong. But IMO it's more about publicity than real concern anyway. Maybe he hopes to get others to pause such R&D while he catches up ?

someone asked ChatGBT for help in researching an article. It directed him to a piece in the Guardian. But he couldn't find the full article anywhere so he contacted the guy who wrote it. Long story short, the writer thought it sounded like his work but he'd never written it. AI was good enough to fake his work.

Meanwhile an Aussie mayor is threatening to sue after ChatGBT claimed he'd been jailed for perjury, which he hadn't
