Now here is Firefox and as you see ....no joy.......still refuses to change to a link until I submit. Any body else using Firefox and getting a result on this?

I have been using Firefox exclusively for a while but IE does have it's uses eh? Thanks for your patience all of you.........commoner.
The only time I use IE is to post something in here with bold or as a link.
To save me a little effort, I've downloaded this plugin for Firefox :
http://ieview.mozdev.org/installation.html

this way you can right click on a link and choose "open target in IE"
Thanks for that stevie21...only thing is that I am still wondering why the link thing doesn't work in Firefox..mmm...puzzling that. It's a similar thing to not being able to select stuff in IE but you can in Firefox..........?????
1. Text editor doesn't work in Firefox because Firefox doesn't use Microsoft's activeX plugin which can potentially allow someone else to take over your browser and run programs and scripts on your PC which could be nasty/malicious.
Windows Updates is a benevolent example of this : it installs improvements on your PC using activeX.

2. You can select text in Firefox because that browser ignores Microsoft's proprietary code. In HTML you can either stick to the code that everyone agrees on (the w3c sets the standards) or, if you're Microsoft you can make it up as you go and invent new code that only works in your own browser, e.g. this "unselectable" (that you might see when someone's posts includes lots of html code :

).
LOL...sory stevie you lost me after the first few words with that explanation though I am certain it is all correct,...I'm just happy to be able to do the link thing ..."Happy Christmas"...commoner.
