I sent 3 emails to my GP's surgery regarding the same issue over a period of 3 weeks. After a phone call this morning regarding this issue to the surgery - I was out all afternoon, surgery left voice mail saying the General Practitioner never received any of my emails at all. My neighbour has just listened to the voice mail.

Anyway for the future emails how can I send an email via Outlook and put a "tick" somewhere to let me know that my email message has been "read". Neighbour didn't know how to do it.

Along the top of your email you will see a menu that says follow up /high/ impotance low importance and 'tags'. Click the Tags button and you will get a drop down menu that gives you choices. Tick 'Read Receipt' and when the email is opened you will get an email saying its been read. However, the recipient can over-ride this if they wish.

thanks Aunt - my friend used to put that "read" thing on - sometimes I never saw it. but I'll use it for GP surgery.

I am only after sending another "new" email and copied the old emails in - I have found sometimes "reply" doesn't work, although all of the times I do go into my "sent" and it comes up as being sent. Anyway now I know what to do. thanks again.

I tried to send myself an email - my address comes up easily, however when I went into Follow Up - the drop down comes High Medium Low - no tags in the drop down
The read receipt won't work if you send me an email, JJ. It is easy block so don't rely on it
As has been said, the recipient is not obliged to send read receipts. When I was working, one of the PAs in the office demanded that people sent read receipts to her E-mails. This was soon jumped upon by management when they realised how much space was taken up by her E-mails on the server. As a consequence, everybody was given a limit on how much space they could have on the E-mail server. Some thought it was a wind up, but they soon realised it wasn't when they came in one morning to find a lot of their E-mails had gone!

thanks - I'll not bother putting one on. To be honest when friend put one in her emails - I would say 99% of the time I didn't tick, cos I usually answered anyway.
