Love the photo of Beefy playing cricket. He faced Joel Garner, Malcolm Marshall, Dennis Lillee, Richard Hadlee and Wasim Akram and was not even wearing a bash hat. Bring back the old days!!!!
He played professional football for Scunthorpe United for a few seasons as well.
Aw, i thought the headline was all your own work, TTT. Until i actually read your link.

It was my own work, can't see where it says that in the link.
Also played non-league football with Yeovil Town, Webbo.
"International Trade Secretary Liz Truss said she trusted Lord Botham's skills , saying he would "Bat for British business, down under."
Question Author
ken, mine is different and better!
Beefy loved his Wacky Baccy.

I can see a fact finding junket to Jamaica on his itinery.

On the contrary this is the sort of surrealism I think many it is saw coming.
Good luck to him. He can’t be any worse than the PM or Truss
Question Author
Lillee? you mean Chappel.
Apparently in an interview with the Guardian (as recently as November 2020) in discussing his appointment to the House of Lords, Beefy said ‘'I'm enjoying it and will be at Westminster more often when we get back to normal, especially when they are debating something I know about – like sport or the countryside. Not much point if it's a trade deal with Japan.’

This caused some on social media to suggest - 'Who next? Ross Kemp as Defence Secretary? Jim Davidson to the UN? Cast of Emmerdale to Agriculture?'
Well, at least the Australians will know who he is. More likely to listen to him (I'm sure he will be suitable 'prepped') than a faceless wonder. Good move, worth a throw.
he is as credible as a trade envoy as Prince Andrew Pants-Down was when he had the job accumulating his air miles.
I think it's called 'a bowl'. :-P
yes, I did, sorry TTT.
Seems an odd choice at first but then, as pointed out above, he is known to most Aussies so may be better received than some chinless wonder Civil servant.

Time will tell.

Keep chomping on those sour grapes.
I have up explaining the meaning of “sour grapes” some while ago :-)

I like Botham and am wishing him well anyway!
