I'm with TalkTalk and I'm happy with the package I have. All I have is the internet with any time calls to landlines and mobiles. They also throw in little extras like free caller display and last call blocking etc. Now my cousin is looking for something similar but doesn't want to go with TalkTalk because she has had problems with them in the past. Can you recommend a different provider, please? Like me, she would be happy with just Freeview on her TV and Pay as you Go on her mobile, so basica\lly the package I have but not with TalkTalk. Thanks.

All those requirements, which are the same as mine, will be met with Plusnet. I've found no reason to leave them since 2008.

Thanks 4candles, I'll have a look at that. Would you happen to know if my cousin would have to pay money to Sky as she would be leaving before the end of her contact?
Question Author
Thank you.
We are very happy with Plusnet as well.
I too use Plusnet and have no problems.
Question Author
Thanks marvel.
We're with Plusnet too. Quite happy.
I had phone and braodband from EE - went with them after BT hiked their prices.

Got £34 per month quoted in EE shop, butn the found if I went through Quidco I'd get £135 cashback and cost would be £36 per month.

EE also guaranteed up to £50 if I was charged for leaving my existing provider.

Few months later "we're increasing you costs" Grrr! But "we won't charge you if you want to leave"

Went with Now Broadband (Sky in disguise - and cost less than Sky for boradband and phone) AND £80 cashback theough Quidco.

The only problem is, when I checked out their website, the price they quoted was for the first years contract and then it goes up another £10 a month. Did any of you find that? My contract with TalkTalk goes up every year but I always get them to do it cheaper by saying I'll go elsewhere. Do you do that with Plusnet?
Question Author
Tuvok I'll have a look at that one too.
Question Author
Tuvok I noticed on the Plusnet one that my cousin would have to change her phone number but presumably, she wouldn't have to with Now Broadband?
Take a look at Quidco - there's EE and Sky offers.

My contract is just for a year - and if the price goes up, I'll shop around again. Same with my electric.
I didn't have to change my number and nor should she - in fact I read something in the paper yesterday about that - I'll see if I can find it.
Found it:

"If you are staying in the same house Ofcom says its mandatory that your old provider must allow the number to be transferred to your new service"

I put her postcode and Telephone number in on the Plusnet site and it came up with this

You don't have compatible phone service. To use our broadband you'll need to take one of our Home Phone packages.

Your existing service should carry on working until you're switched over.

Switching your phone takes a minimum of 10 full working days and your broadband should activate on the same day.

I know that when she went on Sky she had to change her phone number, that was about 6 moths ago.
I've noticed that sombody in the same place as me has a phone number that is not in the same range as the rest of the place and they are with Sky - so it must be that.

I still have our original BT number - and thats after being with BT, Talk Talk, BT, EE and now Now.

Now is part of Sky.

Plusnet is owned by BT but run as a separate company.
Question Author
So, she went from TalkTalk to Sky and had to change her number and if she goes to Plusnet she will have to change it again but if she went to Now, (as they are part of Sky) would she be able to keep her number do you think?

I remember getting an email when I switched saying "your new number is" which confused me as I thought why have they sent this? My "new number" on the email was my existing number!
