Scan for malware. It sounds like you have an advertisment coming up.
Malwarebytes is the usual suggested scanner.
Yes, they want to sell you something. There are free cleaners. I have one called cc cleaner.
Download CCleaner from here and do it yourself

thanks all I do have CC cleaner on my desktop - also malwarebytes - which is the best. Conne
They are different things, one is cleaning your history and temporary files etc. The other is looking for viruses. So you need both.
Do a Scan with MalwareBytes first just incase you have a Virus.
Use CCleaner after
Have a look in Add Remove Programs or Programs and Features (depending on your OS) and uninstall Smart PC Cleaner from there if you can.
1. Scan with malwarebytes http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button
2. Scan with MSE http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/security-essentials-download
3. Scan with CC cleaner if you must, but frankly I don't think it does anything...

Don't buy anything.
As WD says, looks like it might be able to be removed from the add/remove programs menu: http://forums.anvisoft.com/viewtopic-55-5332-0.html
CCeaner (originally Crap Cleaner) is useful for clearing space on a hard drive. It also has a nice Startup Editor, I know you can do this with msconfig but you can also see and control your browser start up progs.
As Ab Editor says, it won't directly remove malware.

I have done malwarebytes - and it give things detected and asked me to shut down which I did - now I am running CCcleaner - but before I went further there it said if we clean you will lose files - are you happy with that (something like that) - what shall say - I don't want to lose important files if you like. Thanks Am waiting here before i go back to ccleaner which is minimised at the moment
CCleaner will delete temporary internet files, files from your recycle bin, cache files and temporary files.
You won't lose anything important.
Just out of interest, what is the total amount of data it wants to remove?
Question Author
wd just looked there 1150 kb 42 files
Wow, that's tiny compared to some I've seen, very good. I would still go ahead and delete them anyway.

Have you go rid of that Smart PC Cleaner yet?
Question Author
thanks wd - will let you know if smart pc doesn't come up when I open in the morning again. that is when it comes up.
It'll happen any time you restart your PC.
I'll keep an eye out later.
Good luck :-)
Purely my opinion. CCleaner is dangerous in the wrong hands. It's a Registry cleaner and I think such items can do more harm than good. Could even upset Windows to a non-repair level.

Al.
Alston - you are correct to a degree, CCleaner has a registry cleaning function but also has other useful, and less dangerous features.

done ccleaner anyway - and had to re-log into here - and my outlook - couldn't believe had to start to hunt old passwords - god knows how many I will have to log onto again. no would not have recommended but no harm done - I hope.
