Is Skype free?

I thought it was, or paid for indirectly if one is paying for Broadband and WI Fi.

When I tried to set it up there were a lot of references to payments.

One of the on- line tUtorials I looked at mentioned a free option.

Can anyone enlighten me?........Thankyou AB ers.

If the person you video call has Skype then it's totally free. If you're dialling a landline number (But using your PC) then you do have to pay for credits.

My Sister and I both use Skype, and her Husband (Who works in Saudi Arabia) use the free video call service as well - their phone bill would be horrendous otherwise.

Thankyou....I am trying to set up to call Melbourne and my son has Skype so we should be able to use the system.

Stockton-on-Tees/Yeovil to Saudi works fine, so you should be OK.
Have you successfully installed Skype and created a username?

If so, search for your son's username by clicking on the last icon under your own username in the skype box.
