Today a teenager was showing me his latest samsung mobile phone. I asked him was it better than the I- phone. His reply was " this is a bad phone!"
I replied "it's no good then!"
He replied "no when I say bad I mean good!"
This puzzles me why say bad if you mean good.
Have I lost touch. What does anyone else think?

I thought 'bad' for 'good' went out years ago or maybe it has resurfaced.
It's a teen thing.
i'm guessing they say bad because saying wicked takes too long
It did go out years ago Mamya, they now say 'sick' meaning good as pointed out by Sara. :)
They also say 'My bad', which apparently is 'my fault'.
We used to say everything was wicked.

I thought sick means ill
It makes me cringe. My son has started saying odd things - like using the term 'epic' for every single thing.. which bugs the hell out of me.

Luckily, he's not started on the whole 'sick' 'bad' 'wicked' thing. Most things are just 'awesome' - which is fine.
Or well sick - really good, lol.
I'm just glad my teenage era was different from now.
I thought "dope" was the new "in" word for something that's good ? Or was that last week ;o)
ooh emmm geee bad innit.
Whatever happened to the queens English? Hope the blighters do not write as they speak.
I still think 'cool' is cool, much to the embarrassment of teenagers.
Actually the phone would be 'dope' these days. In my days it would have been 'far out' , times change.

I agree with alwaysconfused cool was better
Bunch of old duffers, lol.

Teens have always, well since the 50's anyway, had their 'special' language, it's nothing new.

Great link Boo. I think I may just use the 'are you writing a book' phrase on here lol!
