My pc has died, and I'm thinking of getting a tablet. I'd be using it for surfing the net, shopping, emails, and down loading and reading books.
Any personal recommendations?

Anybody...?
I think my Nexus 7 is a fantastic bit of kit but I wouldn't use it as my only computer.
No recommendation but i'm gonna keep an eye on this thread. I want one too! Haha!

I have been told to stay away from iPads though. Android have a much larger range of apps ect and can play flash...
Ect??

Clearly it's been a long week haha! *etc.
Man hostage has a galaxy samsung 7 inch tab and I'm also considering getting one... maybe... I'm not sure yet... anyway, he really likes it and it's good for playing on but I don't think I would get it to replace a laptop or a PC, just as a useful play thing really.
I use my Nexus 7 as a satnav - much better than my TomTom, so it's not all play.
i am using a blackberry playbook, it was half price at pc world last autumn

it suits my needs, i cannot comment on the abilities of other tablets

Thanks all.
At the moment,I,m considering the Google Nexus...while my brother in the States is singing the praises of all things Apple...too pricey though for me.
Must admit I bought a brand new HP business laptop and shortly after I bought a Motorola XOOM tablet. The only thing I did with the laptop was update it now and again, before selling it virtually unused. The tablet does everything I really need. Browsing internet, emails etc. If I want to print something ! I just type it out in an email and send it to myself. it can then be accessed at my desktop and printed as required.
Having had a tablet for over a year now' I would not be without one.
If I were buying a new tablet I would definitely want a 10 inch screen and at the moment thisone seems like a good deal with it's quad core ...: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops-netbooks/ipad-tablets-and-ereaders/tablets/asus-memo-pad-301-10-1-tablet-16-gb-20731953-pdt.html?srcid=369&xtor=AL-11&cmpid=aff~HotUKDeals~&;istCompanyId=9a35962d-802d-4e67-9721-0a3328ca1f02&istItemId=qqpxmxaa&;istBid=t
I prefer my 7" because it easily fits in most pockets, it's comfortable to hold with one hand and is very light.
By the way, I can print directly from my Nexus 7.
Must agree the Nexus 7 is a superb tablet if you need to carry one around with you, I did have one on loan for a short time.
But I must say given the choice I would personally go with the larger screen, as my tablet never leaves home.... it also saves me from being busy and enlarging the text to read it.
I should really wear glasses..!

One other point when buying a tablet ... avoid buying a cheap Chinese imports in case of a warranty claim, and stick with the bigger names sold from the UK. There's more chance of some customer service from a UK seller.
