A chat line company would normally advertise one number to the public and then as calls come in these would automatically be transferred - either to calltakers in a single site or to calltakers in multiple sites. The system can control how and when calls are transferred so provided there was a steady supply of calls being received by the system the company could influence how the calls are routed if they wished.
