pc won't work

i just bought a dvd/rw for my pc, i put it in, now my pc doesn't work. if i unplug the pc then plug it back in again the lights come on and the fan goes round for few seconds then it just switches it's self off.

Can someone please help?

remove dvd/rw and try the computer. If it works then you have fitted the dvd/rw wrongly
