Little Red Crosses!!

I seem to have activated something cause when I try to look at certain websites, were there should be words/pictures, all I get are little red crosses. What have I done??

I am no expert but it sounds as if you have set it up not to show pictures - I get this sometimes on certain emails. If you right click on the X you should get a menu saying "show picture". I think.
Something is blocking the download/interpretation/display of picture files.
Maybe you have somehow barred certain sites ? Or maybe the server with the picture files is offline ?

Boxtops -checked 'show picture' bit but stiil the red x's are there. Even turned computer off and on again.
Old_Geezer how have I blocked/barred sites. This is happening on loads of sites - not just 1.

Managed to find out was Java was and have downloaded the latest version - red crosses still there!! HELP!!!
Lord only knows how but I'd wonder about your anti virus software.

Why not right click on a cross, and select properties. Then copy & paste that address into your Net browser address box, to see if you can see the picture when you go to the place where the picture file is ? Or indeed if you can see anything on that site It might give a clue.
Perhaps re-install Adobe flash player if it's not Java?

Right - as I said yesterday, I have uninstalled and re-installed Java and today I have done the same to Adobe Flash Player - red crosses still there!! Any more ideas pse???
From one technophobe to another, are there parental controls which may have been activated?
mayennaise - is this happening in Internet Explorer or Firefox?

IE is the operating system and I don't think I have activated any parental controls - the 'kids' are 31 and 28!!

Still got the little red crosses but only when I am the user. If I open IE using MOH user ID then all is OK????
