im not going to
They add on some sort of admin charge. We get them at work all the time and I have to pay for them because I need to know what they are. Usually hotel receipts but it's frsutrating because once they have shown you the envelope they deem that as you accepting the letter so you have to pay it. You can't just look at it and say no, it's just junk mail I don't want it.

sorted :)
the price i suppose is to cover the costs of all these unstamped letters that get into the mail and dont get delivered.
"You can't just look at it and say no, it's just junk mail I don't want it"

The Royal Mail have to get their money from somewhere - the amount of post I get with unfranked stamps on it is amazing - I must get at least 3 a week, usually more
curiosity will get the better of you , but as above, look at it and if you think it's junk, tell them to bin it!
My OH's boss once sent his pay-slip without a stamp. Had to pay whatever it was (can't remember how much now) The company had done it to over 100 employees but they did reimburse everyone. Expensive mistake.

curiosity wont get the better of me, if it was important they will write again when they havent had a reply from me
If you refuse it, they are legally obliged to return it to the sender, who will no doubt soon get in touch again (with postage) if it's important.
Posties discard about a zillion red rubber bands on the streets every year. Royal Mail should be fined for 'fly-tipping'.
Question Author
exactly, they keep it for 3 weeks then return it.
I know I'm late in day,but had similar when went t collect, said i didn't want the letter, the next day the afore mentioned letter was delivered with no fee required!

How do you manage that? You`re not supposed to send coins in a letter and RM now charge for size and thickness so if it doesn`t go through the gap allowed for letters it charges a higher price when it`s delivered and will take longer to process, whereas `Special Delivery` takes priority.
