I have just had this email from bt ,Thank you for signing up to bt talk and sent me a password,I havent signed up for anything ,don't know what bt talk is let alone sign up for it , and I dread talking to bt on the phone ,should I just ignore it as it says it will close the account after the 26 of this month if I don't use it ,,hoping its not my internet account they are talking about ,and also will this be on my next bt bill when it comes what ever it is

Does the email address you by name?

Have you looked at the email header to check where it actually came from?

Are there any links to click on? Hover you mouse over the link and see what address it will send you to. Chances are it's not from BT but from "phishers" who try to grab your details before scamming you.

Thank you both for your advice ,its from bt.athome @.com so it looked genuine anyway I clicked on a link that was there and it took me to bt and it seems if its to do with making phone calls over the net ,and Ethel it was addressed to dear custumer and it had the bt logo so it looked ok I'll get the wife to ring bt she has better hearing ,,Thanks again for advice we feel happier about it now, I think its the word account that throws us oldies
