Sound problem

I am able to speak & hear conversations using Voip (using a headset) but nothing at all via skype. I have deleted skype and re-installed, but still the same. Anyone out there got an answer for me please?

That is very odd as Skype is voip.

Have you turned the other voip application off as this could be hogging the resources.
As Ethel says, Skype is VOIP. It could also be, as she says, that your other VOIP application is hogging the resources.

On the other hand, it could be (if, for example, you are using a USB headset) that you need to tell Skype which audio device to use. You can do this as follows:
Open Skype
Click Tools/Options from he main menu
In the General section, click on Audio Settings
In both the Microphone and Loudspeaker sections, select your headset.
Click Save
