Just had a quick scan through the new podcast of you know who and Mindy Kaling (whoever that is) and it struck me how many times the words 'right' and 'like' are used and wondered if this is the new way of talking or is it an American thing? A few quotes to explain what I mean.

// Everyone was just like, "Oh my God - you're like, "well, I chose him too".- because I went through life being like, OK, well Meghan Markle was like that one nice hot girl who like has her head screwed on right, because her mom's probably like really cool, - so I just became. well, I was like OK then I'll - 'I was alone so much as a child, right,- And even the Oprah thing is like, 'oh my god,//

Is it me, or would you find that really annoying?

there are lots of phrases i find really annoyinh, but these tend not to grate too much, mainly cause i have a 10 year old who speaks like that and my brain has become adept at filtering out the fillers
I thought that way of talking dropped out of fashion a few years ago, I find it infuriating.
Matt Lucas did a fab parody - Vicky Pollard.

Sorry, but I have no idea of who ‘you know who’ is, nor Mindy Kalinin
^
Neither have i but i could have an educated guess:-/

An educated guess on who "you know who" is. Haven't a Scooby who t'other is.
'You know who' is the fantasist called Meghan. She ought to have had Miriam Margolyes at the same interview. She was once on Graham Norton with William.I.am and he used 'like' every few words. Miriam kept correcting him, 'it's not like, it either is or it isn't'. in the end he was almost scared to open his mouth and say anything. It was hilarious. But what if I want to say 'I like you'. That's okay, you can say that.
basically i find it really irritating, you know what i'm saying?

FoxLee the two MM's. Now, would definitely love to see that.
I dislike the use of "like" in every sentence but I think the only pronoun Meghan is comfortable using is I. 40 plus times in a 7 minute "speech" and almost in every sentence in her podcasts

Beginning a sentence with 'so' is also prevalent now.
" what do you do for a living"
"So - I'm an influencer"
(Whatever that might be)
Thanks for the warning. I listen to a lot of podcasts, but will not be subscribing to that.
To those of you who wish to listen - enjoy.
mindy kailing is an american comedian

Do I find the repeated use of "like" really annoying?
Oh, Absolutely, absolutely!
I find it annoying so avoid like the plague!
i stopped tuning out the chatter from my daughter today and actively listened - she says it a LOT.
Perhaps it's just a young person thing and language is evolving, in much the same way as we dont speak as Shakespeare wrote
I said "right" and "like" quite a bit umpteen decades ago and not in America. It's not new.
i just want to make it clear i do listen to her all the time, but my brain filters out the "like"
"I was like..." and "He was like..." seem to have replaced "I said.." and "He said..."

Extremely infuriating, totally unnecessary and complete bilge.
perhaps this is just another consequence of getting old NJ, akin to "the music these kids listen to today ... not like the music of my day"?
What about "aks" instead od "ask".
